José Pedro da Silva, MD

Dr. da Silva is internationally recognized as the creator of the cone procedure for Ebstein's anomaly, which has been the worldwide standard for the surgical treatment of Ebstein's anomaly for years. As part of the Heart Institute, the Da Silva Center is dedicated to the care of children and adults with congenital heart defects that involve absent or poorly functioning heart valves. Dr. da Silva’s other clinical specialties include adult cardiac surgery and pediatric cardiac surgery. His research interests include congenital heart disease and heart and heart-lung transplantation.

Dr. da Silva received his medical degree from the Instituto de Assisténcia Médica ao Servidor Público Estadual in Sao Paulo, Brazil, after which he completed residencies in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery and general surgery there. He then went on to complete an additional residency in cardiothoracic surgery as well as a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.
