Takeyoshi Ota, MD

Assistant Professor of Surgery


Takeyoshi Ota, MD, PhD, is an expert in the surgical treatment of aortic disease. He also participates in the heart failure and ventricular assist device program, which also includes heart transplantation.

Dr. Ota’s research focuses on tissue engineering and developing advanced technologies for heart surgery. He holds two patents, including one for the creation of decellularized tissue (tissue in which cells have been removed, often to facilitate in-situ constructive regeneration when implanted.)

In addition to publishing numerous works in scientific journals, Dr. Ota serves as a reviewer for several publications, including and The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular SurgeryBiomaterials, and the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. He also has contributed to book chapters on arteriosclerosis and aortic disease, and has been invited to present his work at national and international conferences on cardiothoracic surgery.
