In this brief presentation, Charles Abrams, MD, provides an introduction to Update in Hematologic Cancers, the annual review of the previous year’s ASH meeting at Penn Medicine. In so doing, Dr. Abrams places the meeting in perspective and notes the leading role of specialists from Penn Medicine and the Abramson Cancer Center at ASH, and the increasing vitality of the Division of Hematology Oncology at Penn. 

Dr. Abrams was 2016 President of the American Society of Hematology and is Vice-Chair for Research and Chief Scientific Officer of the Department of Medicine at Penn Medicine.
