Detection and Management of Congenital Heart Disease

Christina Pisani-Conway, MD, presents on congenital heart disease and describes the detection and obstetrical evaluation of the fetal heart. Jennifer Johnson, DO, provides fetal cardiology abnormal examples and explains the post-delivery management and surgical interventions for abnormal cardiac lesions.

Educational Objectives 

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  • Recall first and second trimester obstetrical evaluation of the fetal heart
  • Describe indications for a fetal echocardiogram 
  • Identify genetic conditions associated with congenital heart disease
  • Recognize the most common abnormal cardiac lesions and their antenatal management
  • Explain the post-delivery management and surgical interventions for each lesion
