Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • After reading "Low-level Exposure to Vinyl Chloride: Modeling the Impact on the Liver," the reader will be able to recognize how the mouse model used mimics human diet, occupational vinyl chloride exposure, and liver disease.
  • After reading "Leveraging Big-data Analytics to Understand Inflammatory Bowel Disease," the reader will be able to describe the types of the patient data captured in the UPMC IBD Natural History Registry and compiled using the meta-data platform.
  • After reading "A Comprehensive Third-space Endoscopy Program at UPMC Passavant," the reader will be able to list esophageal and gastric pathologies that can potentially be treated with third-space endoscopic procedures.
  • After reading "Adopting Telemedicine for the Preoperative and Postoperative Care of Colorectal Surgery Patients," the reader will be able to summarize why telemedicine is possible in 2024 and the potential benefits to patients of telemedicine for preoperative and postoperative evaluation for colorectal surgery.
