Inpatient Consultation: Patient With Liver Disease who has Surgery Scheduled

In this presentation, David Kaplan, MD, MSc, considers the practical aspects of inpatient consultation for a patient with liver disease who is anticipating surgery. Dr. Kaplan’s discussion includes general issues related to a variety of surgeries in the cirrhotic patient, including non-abdominal (orthopaedic) surgery and bariatric surgery, as well as surgeries related to hernia and other indications exacerbated by cirrhosis. Includes a review of perioperative management, risk management and DVT prophylaxis.
