Diego Torres-Russotto, M.D., joins Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute, as the inaugural chair of the Neurology division. Dr. Torres-Russotto specializes in neurology and movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, tremors, spasticity, gait disorders, tics and other neurological illnesses. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian.

Dr. Torres-Russotto joins Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), where he served as Professor, Chief of Movement Disorders and Vice-chair for Education with the department of Neurological Sciences. He created the UNMC Movement Disorders division and its fellowship program, as well as several multidisciplinary clinics and centers of excellence.

Publishing more than 50 scientific papers, Dr. Torres-Russotto also established one of the largest international studies of orthostatic tremor, assembling a team of over 100 collaborators. He is a member of numerous National and International Research Consortia and was admitted as a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology in 2017. 

He has received numerous recognitions as an educator, such as the Distinguished Mentor Award and a campus-wide Outstanding Teacher Award from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He also earned the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Torres-Russotto will see patients at 8950 North Kendall Dr., Suite 403W, in Miami.
