Steroid Use in Trigeminal Neuralgia

Cerebrovascular neurosurgeon Risheng Xu recaps his presentation from the 2022 Congress of Neurological Surgeons annual meeting on the use of steroids for acute trigeminal nerve pain management. A retrospective review of patients who received steroid treatment showed that steroids reduced pain levels and a need for surgical intervention. Future research that prospectively offers steroids will better define their role as an adjunctive medicine in acute trigeminal nerve pain management.
