Total Talus Replacement

Christopher Gross, M.D., MUSC Orthopaedic physician, details a total talus replacement procedure for patients whose talus bones have died. Previous procedures involved fusing the ankle to the subtalar joint and limiting a patient’s range of motion as well as their ability to bear weight. Using today’s innovative cobalt chromium implant, surgeons can preserve a patient’s mobility and decrease their recovery time.
