Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a novel approach to the treatment of abdominal cancers, which include ovarian cancer. With HIPEC, heated cytotoxic chemotherapy is given into the peritoneal cavity at high concentrations at the conclusion of optimal cytoreductive surgery.
