Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecologic malignancy. It is the second most common cancer of the female reproductive system, and with an estimated incidence of 22,280 cases and 15,500 deaths from the disease in the USA in 2012, it represents the fifth leading cause of cancer mortality in women.
